Mission We, the Black students of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater associate ourselves forthe purpose of motivating and retaining students on campus, coordinate activitiesstrengthen cultural awareness; provide assistance to the development and utilization ofour skills to the extent that we can become a professionally organized body of students onthis campus to deal with social, cultural, and educational problems.
Membership Benefits1. Community and SupportNetworking Opportunities: Connect with other Black students, faculty, alumni, and community leaders.Mentorship: Access to mentoring programs from older students, alumni, or professionals within the BSU network.2. Leadership Development/ Professional Development: Leadership Roles: Opportunities to hold positions within the BSU executive board, helping develop leadership and organizational skills.Event Planning, Skill Building, Community Engagement: Help organize and lead initiatives, such as cultural events, fundraisers, and social justice campaigns.Networking with Professionals: Build connections with professionals in various industries, including alumni who can offer career advice and job leads. 3. Safe SpaceSupportive Environment: BSU often provides a safe space where Black students can freely express their experiences, challenges, and achievements.Mental Health Support: Access to resources and discussions about mental health, well-being, and coping strategies in a sometimes challenging academic and social environment.
