About Us

The UWW Beekeepers Club is dedicated to maintaining healthy, thriving honey bee colonies while advancing education, research, and environmental stewardship across the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater community. Our mission is to create meaningful hands‑on learning opportunities that connect students, faculty, and community members to the essential role pollinators play in sustaining ecosystems and food systems. We steward the campus apiary with a commitment to responsible, sustainable beekeeping practices that prioritize bee health, ecological balance, and long‑term resilience. Through workshops, outreach events, collaborative research, and public engagement, we work to increase awareness of pollinator conservation and empower individuals to take informed action in their own communities. As a student‑led organization, we foster leadership, curiosity, and interdisciplinary learning. Our members gain practical experience in hive management, data collection, habitat improvement, and community education. We strive to make the apiary a welcoming, inclusive space where students of all backgrounds can explore environmental science, sustainability, and agricultural literacy. Ultimately, our mission is to strengthen the connection between people and the natural world by championing pollinator health, supporting sustainable practices, and contributing to a more resilient future for our campus and region.

Members Benefits

Members of the UWW Beekeepers Club gain more than hands‑on experience with honey bees — they join a community rooted in stewardship, curiosity, and a shared commitment to caring for our planet. Through active involvement in the apiary, students build a deeper connection to the natural world while learning practical skills in sustainable beekeeping, habitat improvement, and environmental education. Membership offers opportunities to participate in hive management, workshops, outreach events, and collaborative projects that strengthen ecological awareness and leadership. Whether tending colonies, supporting conservation efforts, or helping shape the future Honey House and Learning Center, members play a direct role in protecting pollinators and contributing to a healthier, more resilient environment. Above all, the club provides a welcoming space where students of all backgrounds can explore their interest in sustainability, develop meaningful friendships, and become part of a community dedicated to making a positive impact on campus and beyond.
